Clockworks
A clock tower in red brick and white limestone with oilfield machinery for a heart, cut against its own clay pass. Made in Blender.
Same frame, two passes
Lit for the film, or stripped back to the build.
Drag across the frame. On the left, the final render. On the right, the clay pass, with every object in its own flat color: 713 of them, every brick course, gear and valve.
Frame 150 of the tower shot.
FinalClay
The dial ring reads BUILT FIRST, with 3D at the bottom.
The minute hand steps one minute per beat of the score.
In the film, it lands on ten o'clock right on the bell.
How it was made
One scene, one graphics card, no asset packs.
- 01
Model
The whole scene comes out of one script in Blender 5.2: 713 objects and 157,772 triangles. No asset packs.
- 02
Gears
11 gears with real ratios: a 44-tooth wheel drives a 22 at twice the speed, and a 22 and a 30 share an axle. The teeth are timed so they interleave instead of passing through each other.
- 03
Light
EEVEE at 1080 by 1920 on one RTX 4060: about 1.2 seconds a frame for the tower, 3 to 4 seconds for the dial close-up.
- 04
Clay pass
A flat-color pass at about a second a frame, cut into the film so the model shows without the light and materials.
